Welcoming Martin Nyberg – Penetration Tester
We’re excited to welcome Martin Nyberg to River Security, who joins us as a Penetration Tester in our Offensive Security Operations Center (OSOC).
Martin comes from a strong technical background with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Karlstad University and nearly 13 years of experience as a backend developer. Throughout his career, he has worked extensively with large-scale SaaS platforms, contributing across the full lifecycle, from maintenance and bug fixing to new development and security-related work.
Over the past few years, Martin has increasingly focused his attention on offensive security, dedicating much of his spare time to hands-on technical training and real-world attack scenarios. What started as curiosity has grown into a clear professional direction.
“I was drawn to River Security because of Active Focus and the way the company combines continuous security testing with traditional penetration testing. The opportunity to work offensively, hands-on, and alongside highly skilled people was a big motivator for me. It feels like the right place to grow and contribute at the same time.”

Martin has built strong practical skills through platforms such as Hack The Box, Proving Grounds, and TryHackMe, where he has solved a significant number of advanced challenges. He holds the CPTS and CWES certifications from Hack The Box and is currently progressing towards CWEE. His background as a developer gives him a deep understanding of how applications are built, how vulnerabilities emerge, and how attackers think—an increasingly valuable combination in modern penetration testing.
“Martin brings something we value highly: long-term engineering experience combined with genuine passion for offensive security. That blend gives him strong intuition for real-world attack paths and makes him a great addition to our OSOC team.”
— Magnus Holst, CEO, River Security
Outside of work, family life is central for Martin. He lives in Sweden with his wife and two children, and much of his time is spent balancing family life with home renovation projects, the house they bought in 2021 has already seen major upgrades, including a new roof earlier this year. When time allows, Martin is also an active sports enthusiast, enjoying mountain biking, road cycling, running, and cross-country skiing.
At River Security, Martin will work closely with our OSOC team, contributing to both continuous and traditional penetration testing, helping customers better understand their real exposure and reduce the risk of compromise over time.
We’re very happy to have Martin on board and look forward to seeing him grow further as part of River Security.
Welcome to River Security, Martin – we’re looking forward to building great things together!
