Welcoming Lucas Vanaheim – Senior Penetration Tester

We’re excited to welcome Lucas Vanaheim to River Security, where he joins us as a Senior Penetration Tester in our Offensive Security Operations Center (OSOC).

Lucas brings experience from Norsk Helsenett, where he has worked as a penetration tester for the past year and a half. Prior to that, he spent two years at Advania’s Cyber Defense Center as a Vulnerability Analyst within their intelligence team, helping customers gain visibility into their vulnerabilities, prioritize remediation efforts, and stay updated on developments in the threat landscape.

He started his career at the Norwegian Armed Forces Cyber Security Center, working as a vulnerability analyst. There, he contributed to security testing of defense systems and delivered weekly vulnerability intelligence updates. During his time in the Armed Forces, he tested a wide range of systems, with a particular focus on web applications. Lucas also contributes to Locked Shields, NATO’s large-scale cyber defence exercise, further strengthening his practical experience in complex, real-world scenarios.

Lucas holds a Bachelor’s degree in Telematics from the Norwegian Armed Forces and a Master’s degree in Information Security from NTNU. He has completed SANS SEC504 and SEC642, and holds the Hack The Box Certified Web Exploitation Specialist (CWES) and Certified Penetration Testing Specialist (CPTS) certifications.

“I was drawn to River Security because of the strong focus on continuous security testing and the opportunity to develop as a penetration tester in a highly skilled environment. I also value the remote-first culture, where collaboration is deliberate and communication is prioritized across the team. The opportunity to work remotely has been a long-term goal of mine, and I’m excited to combine that with meaningful technical growth.”

Lucas Vanaheim

Lucas has been based in Lillehammer for over a decade, through studies, his time in the Armed Forces, and more recently while working remotely.

“Lucas brings exactly the kind of profile we look for. He combines strong technical capabilities with excellent interpersonal skills, making him highly effective both in deep technical work and in helping customers understand, prioritize, and act on real security risk.”

— Magnus Holst, CEO, River Security

Outside of work, Lucas spends his time climbing, training, and diving into various hobbies such as board games, Dungeons & Dragons, Magic: The Gathering, and the occasional CTF challenge.

At River Security, Lucas will work closely with our OSOC team, contributing to both continuous and traditional penetration testing, helping customers better understand their real exposure and reduce risk over time.

We’re very happy to have Lucas on board and look forward to seeing him grow as part of River Security.

Welcome to River Security, Lucas – we’re looking forward to building great things together!
